இலங்கைக் கடற்படையினரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள 34 இந்திய மீனவர்களையும் அவர்களது மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளையும் விடுவிக்க உடனடி நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள வலியுறுத்தி மாண்புமிகு ஒன்றிய வெளியுறவுத் துறை அமைச்சர் டாக்டர் எஸ். ஜெய்சங்கர் அவர்களுக்கு மாண்புமிகு தமிழ்நாடு முதலமைச்சர் திரு. மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் அவர்கள் கடிதம் 

ராமேஸ்வரம் மீன்பிடித் துறைமுகத்திலிருந்து 3 மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளில் மீன்பிடிக்கச் சென்ற 34 மீனவர்கள் தனுஷ்கோடி அருகே 25.01.2025 அன்று இலங்கைக் கடற்படையினர் கைது செய்துள்ள நிலையில், கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள அனைத்து மீனவர்களையும் அவர்களது மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளையும் விடுவித்திட உடனடியாக தூதரக நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள வலியுறுத்தி மாண்புமிகு தமிழ்நாடு முதலமைச்சர் திரு. மு.க. ஸ்டாலின் அவர்கள், மாண்புமிகு ஒன்றிய வெளியுறவுத் துறை அமைச்சர் டாக்டர் எஸ். ஜெய்சங்கர் அவர்களுக்கு இன்று (26.01.2025) கடிதம் எழுதியுள்ளார்.

 அக்கடிதத்தில் இலங்கை கடற்படையினரால் நமது மீனவர்கள் கைது செய்யப்படும் மற்றொரு சம்பவத்தை மாண்புமிகு ஒன்றிய வெளியுறவுத் துறை அமைச்சர் அவர்களின் கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டு வருவதாக குறிப்பிட்டுள்ள மாண்புமிகு முதலமைச்சர் அவர்கள், 25.01.2025 அன்று ராமேஸ்வரம் மீன்பிடித் துறைமுகத்திலிருந்து 3 மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளில் மீன்பிடிக்கச் சென்ற 34 மீனவர்களை (தமிழ்நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த 32 மீனவர்கள் மற்றும் கேரளாவைச் சேர்ந்த 2 மீனவர்கள்) தனுஷ்கோடி அருகே அவர்களது மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளுடன் இலங்கை கடற்படையினர் கைது செய்துள்ளனர் என்று கவலைபடத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். 

இலங்கை கடற்படையினரால் நமது மீனவர்கள் அடிக்கடி சிறைபிடிக்கப்படும் சம்பவங்கள், கடலோர மீனவ சமுதாயத்தினரிடையே பதட்டத்தையும் அச்ச உணர்வையும் : 

Text of the D.O. Letter of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru M.K. Stalin addressed to the Hon'ble Union Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar requesting to take necessary urgent action through diplomatic channels to prevent the arrests of our fishermen and to secure the immediate release of all the arrested fishermen and their fishing boats from the Sri Lankan authorities want to bring to your attention yet another incident involving the apprehension of 34 fishermen (32 from Tamil Nadu and 2 from Kerala) and their fishing boats by the Sri Lankan Navy on 25.01.2025. These fishermen had ventured for fishing from the Rameswaram fishing harbour in three mechanised fishing boats bearing Registration Nos. IND-TN-10-MM-772, IND-TN-10-MM-702 and IND-TN-10-MM-291. They were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy while they were fishing near Dhanushkodi on 25.01.2025. The frequent detentions of our fishermen has put the coastal communities into a perpetual sense of anxiety and apprehension, as their future is made uncertain and bleak. It is high time concrete diplomatic steps are taken to prevent our fishermen being arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy. I therefore request you to take necessary urgent action through diplomatic channels to prevent the arrests of our fishermen and to secure the immediate release of all the arrested fishermen and their fishing boats from the Sri Lankan authorities.
